We get this question several times a month – “What should my conversion rate be?”. The answer is: “it depends!” It should be no surprise that website conversion rates vary by segment, as they typically have different types of customers, value propositions and sales cycles.

Do you have any insight on where the data is coming from / what was the research method? Though interesting for first sight, without knowing this, data like these are not really usable in my opinion.
How are you calculating conversion? For example, in the Software category, does a conversion mean a purchase or a trial download registration?
